Grupo SAMCA initially focused on the extraction of thermal coal in the mining regions of Teruel. As part of its strategic evolution, it began exploring the potential of white clays to supply the wall and floor tile industry un Castellón.

In 1989, Euroarce was established in Ariño (Teruel), leveraging the existing mining base. Shortly afterwards, a clay washing plant for sanitaryware was commissioned at the same site. Around the same time, Euroarce launched Spain’s first independent white body spray-drying facility in Onda (Castellón).

During the mid-1990s, Euroarce consolidated its industrial development with a new clay processing plant in Gargallo (Teruel) and expanded internationally through the acquisition of industrial operations in Italy — now Euroarce Italy— and Castellón with Color Esmalt.

In response to the evolving needs of the ceramics industry, Euroarce continued modernising its facilities and expanding its mineral resouce base beyond Teruel, incorporating feldspar, sand and kaolin resources. The company acquired mines and processing plants in Segovia (1994) and Zamora (2002), alongside significant investsments to expand production capacity.

The 2000s marked a period of sustained growth, with continued investment in mining operations in Teruel and the expansion of production capacity at the Onda (Castellón) plant.

In response to growing demand for kaolin, Euroarce acquired mining operations in Arguisuelas (Cuenca) during the 2010s, followed by investment in the modernisation of its mineral processing facilities.

Between 2017 and 2019, the Onda plant substantially increased its production capacity through a series of technological and environmental upgrades, including the commisioning of new spray-drying units.

Euroarce acquired additional assets in Onda and Cabanes to further strenghten its production capabilites.

In the early 2020s, Euroarce launched a major strategic project in A Mariña (Lugo), aimed at substantially increasing its kaolin and feldspar supply capacity through the development of multiple mines and the construction of a new processing plant.

Euroarce currently has thas a production capacity of two million tonnes of spray-dried ceramic bodies and operates 11 spray-drying units.

Throughout the 2020’s, ongoing exploration activities have increased clay reserves in Teruel and secured new kaolin deposits in Lugo and Cuenca.
