Grants and subsidies
SOCIEDAD ANÓNIMA MINERA CATALANO ARAGONESA (SAMCA) has received funding from the European Union through the NextGenerationEU Fund, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for the project SAMCA ONDA PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR PLANT. The project is part of the incentive programme for self-consumption and energy storage using renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of renewable thermal systems in the residential sector, led by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and managed by the Valencian Community through the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE).
Total investment: €3,629,665.65
Amount of funding: €345,000.00
Description of the project
The project has been implemented at SAMCA ONDA, KM 5, CV-20, 12200 Onda, Castellón, and comprises of the following actions:
Installation of 11,310 photovoltaic modules, each with a capacity of 545 Wp, representing a total installed capacity of 6,163.95 kWp, distributed across rooftop and ground-mounted areas of the industrial plant.
Installation of 4,945.00 kW of nominal inverter capacity, enabling full utilisation of the energy generated.
This initiative reduces the plant’s electricity consumption through on-site renewable solar power generation, thereby preventing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

Self-consumption Photovoltaic Solar Installation Project (242 kwp)
In line with Euroarce Minería’s commitment to innovation, environmental protection and energy efficiency, the company has implemented an energy-saving and CO₂ emissions reduction project through the instalation og a 242kWp photovoltaic solar plant. The eligible investment amounted to €299,266.42, and the grant awarded totalled €36,251.60.

ENERGY SAVINGS AND CO₂ EMISSIONS REDUCTION THROUGH THERMAL RECOVERY OF N7 ATOMISER GASES
In line with SAMCA’s commitment to innovation, environmental protection and energy efficiency, the company has implemented an energy-saving CO₂ emissions reduction project at its Onda facility. The initiative consists of recovering thermal energy from the combustion gases of one of the atomisers (N7). By reducing the temperature of these gases, the recovered heat is used to preheat the combustion air for the N7 atomiser as well as for two additional units. As a result, the project achieves annual savings of 1,066 toe (tonnes of oil equivalent) and reduces CO₂ emissions by 2,514 tonnes per year. The eligible investment amounted to €4,585,275, and the grant awarded totalled €1,374,082.50.

ENERGY STORAGE INSTALLATION FOR THE SAMCA ONDA PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT
In line with SAMCA’s commitment to innovation, environmental protection and energy efficiency, SAMCA Onda has completed the installation of a new energy storage system associated with its 2,500 kW photovoltaic plant.
This system has a total storage capacity of 5,000 kWh and will optimize electricity consumption, improve energy and contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions through a more efficient use of renewable resources.
The project forms part of the incentive programme for self-consumption and energy storage with renewable energy sources under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, in accordance with Royal Decree 477/2021.
The total investment amounts to €1,663,962.39, of which €748,783.07 has been co-financed through public funding.
With this initiative, SAMCA Onda strengthens its energy transition strategy towards a more efficient and sustainable production model aligned with decarbonisation and circular economy objectives.
